Do you feel like sellers always update their certifications as soon as you feel comfortable with them? Well, it's happening again! Cisco has updated its main partner level routing and switching certification, the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). But do not worry; the content is getting a reboot is only about 25 percent of the test. The other 75 percent of the exam always covers the same core technologies and features you expect. Let's take a look at the most important changes, so that you know how to deal with them.
Which path should you take?
CCNA certification must take one of two paths: divide the objectives in two trials for easier study or a single composite test. Anyone taking a shot at the CCNA has its own preferred method to accomplish this, but neither way is better than another. If you decide to take the path of division, two exams will include 100-101 - Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) and 200-101 - Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 Interconnection (ICND2). If you decide that you only want to take a test, the test will include 200-120 - Cisco releases Network Device (Composite). These tests were made available in spring 2013, and senior CCNA exams (640-822, 640-816 and 640-802) were withdrawn September 30, 2013.
Newly introduced topics
With the associated level exams updated Cisco specific technology objects are maintained in their respective events. For example, wireless is only available in CCNA wireless, and voice alone is covered in CCNA Voice. The advantage is that these types of items have been removed from CCNA routing and switching test, leaving room for additional coverage of the issues of R & S. Some of the major additions with this update are:
. IPv6 (Additional coverage including routing protocols: OSPFv3 and EIGRP for IPv6)
. First Hop Redundancy Protocols (FHRP) including Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) and Gateway Load Balancing Protocol (GLBP)
. Password Recovery
. Software (IOS) Licensing
. Network Time Protocol
. Syslog and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
. Netflow
Along with these problems updates, you should expect a certain amount of troubleshooting the exam, and most likely more than what has already been covered (not that he personally performed the test).
